Renting Materials
In order to rent materials, you will need a library card.
How Many Items Can Your Rent?
You can rent up to 15 items in total on one card.

Renting for groups
Groups in Minamisoma such as clubs or schools qualify for group rentals.
For up to 30 days, schools (classes) can rent up to 50 books on one group card, while other types of clubs can rent up to 100 books on one group card.

How to use the self-checkout station
Place the materials you would like to rent on the table and use the screen to check out your items.
(Note) You cannot use the self-checkout station for pictures or toys.

Returning Materials
Please return the materials to a return spot.
You do not need a card to return materials.
Outside of open hours, please use the “Book Postbox” (ブックポスト).
(Note) After returning the materials, please use a return spot other than the Book Postbox if you wish to immediately rent other items, as the returned materials will need to be processed first.
The following materials cannot be returned in the Book Postbox for fear of damaging the product, so please return them during open hours.

Rental Period Extensions
If you aren’t finished with the materials within the rental period, you can request an extension as long as no one else has requested the materials after you.
You can get up to 1 extension of 14 days.
(Note) You cannot get an extension for materials that are already past their return date.

Please request an extension at the Central Library’s Consultation and Registration Desk (相談登録デスク, soudan touroku desuku), or at the counter of any of the other library branches.

Extension Period
14 days from the day extension was requested
(Note) The extension period will begin on the day the extension is requested.
Example:
You rent an item on February 1, due back on February 15. If you complete the extension request on February 2, the new due date will be February 16.
