Minamisoma History Exhibit - Ancient Times
This display focuses on items excavated from archeological sites within the city, dating back from the Paleolithic Period to the Heian Period (794-1185CE).
These artifacts tell of the daily life and culture of the people at the time, discovered through recent archeological digs at sites such as the Sakurai Ancient Burial Mound, the Hanayama Tunnel Tomb, and the old Izumi Temple ruins.
There is also a display of a foot bellows used in ancient times to create iron. This bellows was moved to the museum from the Nagatoro historic ruins in the Kanazawa area of Minamisoma.
