Rental of Personal Dosimeter (D-Shuttle)
The city rents out an electronic dosimetry device called the “D-Shuttle” free of charge to measure the amount of radiation you are exposed to hourly.
Feel free to apply if you wish to use one.
D-Shuttle Features
The D-Shuttle is a small dosimeter that can measure radiation levels on an hourly basis.
By having the measurer record hourly activity and keeping records of your activities on the "activity record sheet" that is given with the D-shuttle when renting it out, you can see when your levels of exposure was high or low during the day and where it was recorded.
Please use this by wearing it around your neck.
How to wear the D-Shuttle.
Who Can Apply
Those to whom any of the following apply.
- Those with a registered address within Minamisoma (including those who moved out after the earthquake disaster.)
- Those who evacuated to Minamisoma from another city.
- Those who commute to Minamisoma for work or school.
Measuring Period
2 Weeks
Measuring Method
- Please continue to wear it from the day you receive the D-Shuttle. Or always keep it close to you.
- Please record your activity every day on the "activity record sheet" that you will receive with the D-Shuttle.
Measurement Results
A few days after submitting your measurements, the results will be made into a graph and handed to you.

In addition, you can see the hourly dosages throughout the day
Rental Fee
Free
(NOTE) We will rent out the D-Shuttle to you to measure the amount of radiation you are exposed to.
However, please be careful as there will be a fee of 22,680 yen if the D-Shuttle device is lost or damaged.
How to Apply
Applications and rentals/returns of the D-Shuttle are done at the Radiation Health Survey Section, Health Promotion Division.

Precautions
- As this is a precision instrument, please refrain from getting it wet.
- Keep the device away from places that generate strong electromagnetic waves (near microwave ovens, IH cooking heaters, etc.) and mobile phones.
