On March 12, having taken damage from the earthquake and tsunami, disaster struck at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. All areas within a 20-kilometer radius of the nuclear power station were declared “evacuation zones.” Because of this order, people at the evacuation sites in Odaka moved to sites in Haramachi and Kashima, as well as other sites within the prefecture.
