Obligations and Penalties Related to Changing Addresses
From the viewpoint of ensuring the accuracy of the records in the Basic Resident Register, the Basic Resident Register Act requires accurate notification of address changes. (Article 3, Paragraph 3, Article 22, Article 24, etc. of the Basic Resident Registration Act)
If you change your address due to school admission, employment, transfers, etc., please notify the correct address change at the counter.
In addition, even though the address has not actually changed, the residence certificate cannot be transferred due to real estate registration, cross-border admission, acquisition of a driver's license, etc.
Since the resident's card is the original notarial act regarding the rights and obligations of the inhabitants, a person who makes a false notification will be liable for false entry in an officially authenticated document and the attempted crime, and will be punished by imprisonment or a fine. (Article 157 of the Criminal Code)
