Dental Exams for Pregnant Women

In order to protect the health of the teeth and mouth of pregnant women, the city subsidizes the dental health examination fees. This includes dental consultations and oral care advice.

You will receive the consultation slip when you are issued the Mother and Child Health Handbook.

When you become pregnant, it may be easier to get cavities and your gums are prone to swelling.

In addition, it has been reported that the frequency of premature birth and low birth weight in infants may increase when you experience severe periodontal diseases.

The health of the mother's mouth has a great effect on the baby being born.

Get a dental examination between the 16th week (5 months) and the 27th week (7 months) of pregnancy when you are in good physical health.

Pregnant women who have a certificate of residence (Juumin-hyou/住民票) in Minamisoma and have received the Mother and Child Health Handbook

The dental exam checks for the presence of cavities, tartar buildup, inflammation, and so on. Then, depending on the results of your exam, the dentist will provide advice on proper dental care.

During Pregnancy: 1 examination is free (Up to 8,000 yen)

If treatment is necessary, requiring follow-ups, the fees borne by the user will be determined by your health insurance.

Please contact your designated dental clinic and make a reservation for a dental exam for pregnant women (Ninpu Shika Kenshin/妊婦歯科健診).

We recommend scheduling a dental exam while your health is good during the 16^th to 27^th week of your pregnancy.
