Newborn Hearing Test
The city subsidizes newborn hearing test fees.
When you are issued the Mother and Child Health Handbook, you will be given a consultation slip.
The Newborn Hearing Test is a simple hearing test for newborns to detect hearing impairments early in order to receive appropriate care at the earliest possible stage.
The test is done during your child's natural sleep by an automatic auditory brainstem response test (automatic ABR) or an otoacoustic emission test (OAE).
The test takes a few minutes, no medication is used, and there is no pain or harm.
Who Can Test
Newborn babies with a registered address (Juumin-hyou/住民票) in Minamisoma.
