Emergency Alert Mail(Area Mail)

In the city, in order to deliver disaster/evacuation information to as many citizens as possible in the event of a disaster, in cooperation with each mobile phone operator (NTT DoCoMo, KDDI Corporation, SoftBank Mobile, Inc., Rakuten Mobile, Inc.), we will deliver disaster/evacuation information to mobile phones (including smartphones and tablets) by emergency alert mail (Area Mail).

Delivered Content

If there is a risk of a disaster in the city or if you need to evacuate, we will deliver evacuation information.

In the event of an emergency such as a disaster, the national, prefectural, and city governments will also send emergency alert mails (Area Mail) covering disaster/evacuation information, and so on. The information delivered is as follows.

・ Earthquake early warnings  

・ Tsunami warnings

・ Special warnings regarding weather, etc.

・ Disaster/evacuation information

Merits of the Emergency Alert Mail (Area Mail)

  • You don’t need to register your email beforehand.
  • Information will be delivered to all terminals in the city, and will also be distributed to tourists and those who visit the city for work.
  • Communication charges for reception are free.
  • The delivery contents are displayed automatically, and no complicated operation is required.
  • Reception is possible without being affected by congested lines.

Using Emergency Alert Mail (Area Mail)

You do not need to apply in advance to receive emergency alert mail (Area Mail), but some mobile phones may require settings and some models may not support receiving. For details, please check with each mobile phone operator that provides the emergency alert mail (Area Mail) service.
