Multilingual Disaster Response App “Safety tips”

更新日:2022年11月01日

“Safety tips” is an app overseen by the Japan National Tourism Organization and aimed at foreign visitors that provides multilingual information in the event of a natural disaster. Service began in October 2014 with the goal of allowing visitors from abroad to travel around Japan with peace of mind.

Besides push notifications concerning emergency news within Japan such as earthquake bulletins, tsunami alerts, and emergency weather warnings, this app provides evacuation flowcharts based on your situation, communication cards that can be used to get information from the people around you, a list of links that can be used to gather information during an emergency, and other useful functions.

It provides support in 14 different languages (English, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Korean, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Tagalog, Nepalese, Khmer, Burmese, and Mongolian).

The app can be downloaded and used for free. Whether you’re a tourist or a foreign resident, please feel free to give it a try.
