(11/3/21-1/23/22) Nakamura Domain and Early Modern Period
In July of 1871, the newly established Meiji administration abolished the Han system of feudal domains and established prefectures, known in Japanese as “廃藩置県” (haihanchiken). The daimyo, or Japanese feudal lords, saw their territorial control come to an end, as the Meiji administration aimed for centralized authoritarian rule, beginning the dawn of a new era.
In order to commemorate 150 years since haihanchiken, the museum is presenting a display on the Nakamura Domain as it entered a new age, focusing on the drastic upheavals in the Bakumatsu period (the closing days of the Tokugawa shogunate) to the abolition of feudal domains and the establishment of prefectures.

The museum will be closed from December 29 to January 3 for the year-end holidays.
It will be open on Monday, January 10 (holiday).
Entrance Fee
General: 400 yen (350 yen)
High school student: 200 yen (150 yen)
ES/JHS student: 100 yen (80 yen)
Note: The entrance fee for permanent exhibits is included.
