(4/29-6/12/22) Earthquake Recovery and Archaeological Dig

更新日:2022年04月15日

Special exhibition banner (Japanese)

The 2011 Great East Japan caused a giant tsunami to crash into the Pacific Coast of the Tohoku region, sweeping away livelihood infrastructure from houses and roads to rice paddies.

The city began recovery projects and other efforts in every part of the city without delay, including archaeological excavations of historical ruins. In this exhibit, the museum will introduce and explain the results of excavations that have taken place since the earthquake until now.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we ask for your cooperation in wearing a mask. This exhibition may be changed or cancelled due to COVID-19 countermeasures.
