Minamisoma Family Support Promotion Project

The Family Support Project is a system in which members can provide child-raising support for each other. People who need child-raising assistance (requesting members) are introduced to people looking to provide such aid (providing members), who then provide temporary childcare custody for a fee, built on a relationship mutual trust and understanding.

If you were once helped with child-raising and feel like you want to return the favor, or if you are looking for a way to help the area through volunteer work, please feel free to register and get involved. Let’s expand this area’s support network through childcare.

(Note) This system is possible due to the mutual aid provided by fellow residents.
There may be days or times that support cannot be provided based on the schedules of the providing members.

People living or working within Minamisoma who want childcare support for their child (newborn to ES 6th grade)

People living in Minamisoma who are 20 years old or older, are of sound mind and body, and can care for a child
(You will be asked to take a short course set by the center)

Those who are both a requesting and providing member

For example, you can use this service in these sorts of situations. Please contact the Family Support Center with any inquiries (contact information listed below).

• I need time for short-term part-time work, work activities, and taking a family member to a nursing facility.
• I need a bit of time by myself away from my child to recharge and refresh.

(NOTE) You cannot use this service for overnight trips or childcare for sick children.

1. Submit an application to register as a member.
2. Have a three-way meeting beforehand between the center, the requesting member, and the providing member.
3. The requesting member submits a service use application to the center after deciding their desired time and date.
4. The center passes on the assistance request to the providing member.
5. The providing member provides support based on the request.
6. After support provision is finished, the requesting member will pay the providing member the decided recompense amount.
7. The providing member will submit an assistance activity report to the center.

• (Note) Costs for meals or formula is to be paid separately.
• (Note) New Year holidays refers to December 29 ~ January 3.
• If 2 or more children are cared for at the same time, the recompense amount for any additional child will be half the normal amount during times when the children are being cared for together.

The city has a support system for single-parent households.

Requesting members living within Minamisoma whose income meets to the income limit level stated in the Child Rearing Allowing Act.
