Temporary Custody and Childcare

If parents/guardians suddenly become unable to take care of their children at home temporarily, the city can provide childcare for their children.

It can also be used to help parents reduce the psychological and physical stress associated with parenting.

You can use this temporary childcare service for the following reasons.

• Reduction of parent/guardian’s exhaustion from parenting
• Parent/guardian’s part-time work, job training, helping with housework, etc.
• Parent/guardian’s hospital visit, hospitalization, disaster, accident, childbirth, or nursing/elderly care for grandparents
• Major life events (e.g. birth, wedding, funeral)

Please contact the operating facility for inquiries if you wish to use this service for a reason other than those listed above.

(Note) You can still receive financial aid for at-home childcare as usual.

Children who meet all of the following conditions.

• Children who live in Minamisoma.
• Children ages 1 up to before entering elementary school.
• Children who are not enrolled in kindergarten, preschool, etc.

 (NOTE) This service is not provided on Saturdays, holidays, or New Year holidays (Dec. 29 ~ Jan. 3).
