Borrowing an Emergency Radio System Receiver
Minamisoma has a government emergency radio system for disaster prevention and relief, with household receivers available for borrowing for all homes and businesses.
You can use this emergency radio to hear Minamisoma’s emergency radio announcements, as well as AM/FM radio channels.
If you haven’t applied for one already, feel free to use this guide.
1. Who Can Apply and Where
(Note) Devices are limited to 1 radio per household/place of business.

- Those living in Haramachi-ku
- Those whose homes were in an ex-hazard area in Haramachi-ku and have evacuated
- Business offices in Haramachi-ku

- Those living in Kashima-ku

4. Cost
Radio lent free of charge.
(Note) The borrower is responsible for the cost of electricity (around 25 yen per month) as well as batteries.

6. Maintenance
If you plug the radio into an outlet and switch it to “防災” (disaster prevention), you will be able to use it right away. However, please read the maintenance manual that will come in the box with the radio.

7. Important Points
- Please change the batteries once a year.
(Note) If the batteries are not changed, it is possible that the battery will leak and damage the radio.
- If the radio breaks or is damaged either by accident or on purpose, the individual is responsible for paying repair fees.
- Please return the radio if you are moving outside the city. Radio settings are different between districts, so please contact us if are moving within the city to a different district.
