更新日:2021年08月04日

exhibit banner

Exhibition period extended to Sunday, September 12.

As we commemorate 10 years since the Tohoku earthquake this year, this display will focus on Soma Nomaoi’s path towards recovery since that disaster. We will also take a look back on the festival’s history through periods of trouble such as the Tenpo Famine, the Meiji Restoration, World War II, and COVID-19, and how various plans were used to ensure that Nomaoi would be inherited by the following generations. Thinking back on the many forms this tradition has taken, we will reconsider the core values of Soma Nomaoi.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we ask for your cooperation in countermeasures such as wearing a mask. This exhibition may be changed or cancelled due to COVID-19 countermeasures.
